Go Karting makes for a fun day out from Orihuela and also presents the chance to enjoy the area's fantastic coastline. The city of Orihuela does offer a variety of activities and some great attractions. However, most of the popular holiday activities are located in the municipalitie's coastal areas. This is to be expected as the majority of holidaymakers prefer to be close to the beach. Visitors to the city though, have only about a 40 minute drive to reach the coast.
Depending on the size of the track and facilities available, most go karting tracks will offer karts for all ages. These can range from cute little electric karts to ‘kick you back in your seat' super powerful 400cc professional petrol karts. Some go karting tracks even have twin seat karts. These are great for small children and those that have never driven. Dual steering wheels and controls allow the child or inexperienced driver to get in some practice with an experienced driver by their side who can take over the controls at any time. So, should you wish to ‘rev it up' during a visit to Orihuela, there are two tracks within 40 minutes drive.
Go Karting Orihuela Costa
The seaside residential area of Punta Prima is home to Go-Karts Orihuela Costa. This is one of the most comprehensive tracks on the Costa Blanca. Such are the facilities here, it's easy to spend an entire day. There really is something for everyone. The main track is for the more experienced driver and larger karts. This has hair pin turns, S-bends and fast straights where you can put your pedal to the metal. A feature of the track is its digital display board. As in Formula I, the display shows drivers positions on the track and their individual lap times.
The smaller track is for the younger less experienced driver and less powerful karts. Further to this is an area for small children to enjoy driving little quad bikes. Children that prefer water can head to the Kids Zone. Here they can enjoy piloting little boats around a pool. There is also a playground area and bouncy castle. Another exciting facility at Go-Karts Orihuela Costa is their paintball wars. Finally, visitors can enjoy meals and refreshments in the cafeteria. This has ample seating as well as an games area with table football, pool and arcade games.
Go Karting San Fulgencio
These guys have been going since 1989 so they certainly know their stuff. They are actually located closer to La Marina than San Fulgencio, along the N-332. They have a similar choice of karts for all ages but a smaller track and less facilities than Go-Karts Orihuela Costa. There is refreshments available, but again a smaller selection. For a more substantial meal or choice of refreshments, there are several bars and restaurants as you approach La Marina. Both of the go karting tracks are just a short distance from some superb beaches to complement your day out.
