Orcelis Sports & Social Club is located a couple of kilometres out of the city along the CV-930. Visitors can take part in a number of sports or just enjoy the social scene. It offers an outdoor swimming pool with an area for children to paddle. There are multi courts including tennis, padel, fronton and basketball. Further to this are football pitches, gymnasium, children's play area and a cafeteria and social lounge with an outdoor terrace dining area. Visitors can enjoy a game or two of tennis on 7 clay courts and 1 grass court. There is also a great tennis academy.
Also on the outskirts of the city along Av. Dr. García Rogel is Polideportivo Municipal El Palmeral. This municipal sports centre enjoys a unique setting among shady palm groves. Spread over a large area, the centre boasts multiple sports courts including several tennis courts. There are also facilities for padel, football, junior football and basketball. There are ample ablutions and changing rooms as well as a cafeteria serving snacks and refreshments.
Tennis In Residential Areas
Depending on where you stay during your time in Orihuela, further tennis courts can be found in some of the residential areas. These are mainly located in areas that have gated residential communities. They are very popular throughout Spain, especially in towns and cities that have large expat communities. Living or holidaying in a gated community has its benefits. Residents can enjoy a sense of security and a variety of leisure facilities. Some of the larger ones have multiple swimming pools, tennis courts, parks and playgrounds. You may even find an on-site bar, restaurant, library or clubhouse. These type of facilities don't come free though. There is an annual fee for home owners so make sure this is payed before booking any accommodation.
